I’m…alive?

Finished doing the video recording of Lisa and Jimmy’s wedding yesterday into the early morning today. Congratulations and best wishes to you both! It was also great to see the rest of the family out there as well.
Doing the video, that was crazy fun…more on the crazy side. Never done anything like it before and I can only hope that as I look back through it all probably starting tomorrow that things seem to be okay given all that I have.

Personally, I have no clue how anyone can choose to have a profession of wedding photography, still or video. But that’s just me, there are thousands of people that do it, love it and do a great job of it. I give my props to the wedding photographers for the event yesterday…they did an outstanding job.

Me, both of my suits are still damp and I don’t know if I have the energy to take them to the cleaners today. *Mind of matter…mind over matter…eh, I’m still tired* I hope sometime later today or tomorrow, Murphy (of Murphy’s Law) rings my doorbell and says, “Hi! I’m here!” to which I respond by gunning him down where he stands.

Drifting Away…

So this happened just ten minutes ago… We’ve got a big storm, no wind or anything…just lots and lots of rain.

Then one of my coworkers rushes in and tells me that my car is minutes away from drifting away. I peer out the door…my car is parked at the parking lot in front of the building, where Wayne and I usually park. Flooding has ensued and I see muddy water coursing up to the sidewalk…the curb is nowhere to be seen. In the distance, a brave tow truck has come out and I see a submerged car just thirty feet away. Already a small group has gathered outside the door to see what would happen. I head over to my car but open the passenger side, the water is already on the driver side and it’s moving. I hop over and start the car and back up carefully, listening to the water rushing under me. In no time, I’m speeding away and across the company shipping yard and over the the front employee parking lot, where I should be safe for now. I’m looking at the traffic reports and their lighting off everywhere. There’s cars and trucks proceeding with great caution and the road’s flooded…I wonder if I’m gonna be stuck here at work for a while…

Not the best picture…but there on the left where the water was coursing, that was where my car used to be until I rescued it.

So for just under a decade, some of my skin gets to finally see the sun! The last time most of my body got some good sun exposure was in 1998 while I was in the Philippines. After that, it was Navy time and uniforms all the way. For those many years, only my head, neck, hands and arms below the elbows got to see sun. Till last week while I was at work, outside digging a ditch for a water and power line with some coworkers. Hopefully I can return to my normal sunny self one day!

Before I go on, I came across some news yesterday about a newly FDA approved pill for birth control. I don’t know, ladies…would you really trust/want to use something like this? Not surprised if so, but that still doesn’t make it seem creepy to me, at least it does so far.

And yay! We’ll be hosting Superbowl 45 with the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in 2011! Part of me wants to get a ticket for that Superbowl, and part of me doesn’t. I don’t know. But I will definitely try to get the first available ticket for when the stadium opens. You can see a really crummy video of it on my MySpace profile (hey, typical YouTube crappy compression…don’t blame me). Of course, you can use the above link and probably get a better video of it (better looking, I don’t know if they have the nice show around as the YouTube vid).

Christine returned home a few weeks ago. Let’s see…went to ANOTHER Asian Festival. This one at least had a Filipino event, and a booth with some food! Most of the events were a little different and while it was good overall…okay, generally…it got to repetitive. Mainly the Tahiti Fantana girls, as I call them. The martials arts, there was maybe one…maybe two…decent demonstrations, the rest…

Memorial Day weekend coming up. Got Lisa’s wedding to video, finished my security survey of her wedding location. Hey, I do security better and for the most part if you do the security survey, you’ve covered all the angles you need to video a wedding! I’ll probably do one more prowl and growl before things go crazy. Gotta finish buying blank tapes. May the Force be with me.

Just a friendly reminder, Glenn Beck’s coming to town! What better way to announce it than to once again show of the picture I took that was added to his show image!

EDIT: Duh, what better place to see pretty pictures and videos of the upcoming Dallas Cowboys Stadium than their own website? There you guys, you can now drool, fall over your chair or mumble at us Texans about how big we have to have things. Enjoy!

Wayne’s Longest Day
Posted in Mouth Flapping and Thought Absent, Itadakimasu!, Friends May 8th, 2007; 7:49AM by Christopher

I’m still recharging…though I think my energy levels are somewhat back to normal. This past weekend was a pretty busy one. Biggest moment was Katy, Wayne’s daughter, getting married. That pretty much consumed my day as far as preparations, which is nothing compared to what Wayne was doing to make sure everything for his daughter’s wedding went smoothly. We later joked it was his “24″ day, his longest day of his life! The wedding went by more or less fairly well and the video that Wayne had worked on turned out pretty good.

The reception ended up being at a restaurant just north of Six Flags, overlooking it. This was the opportunity to try out my camera and even better, I finally got to meet the relevant names that Wayne mentions. Mainly his wife, Paula, and one of his good friends, Shane. The food and events were a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the evening. I was pretty tired when it was time to go, so I could only imagine Wayne was conservatively ten times as exhausted. But everything seemed to work out well.

As for my camera, that event made me realize that I definitely had a lot of things to work on with the camera. I won’t get into the technicals, but once I get better I will be fairly pleased.

The following weekend I went up to Plano to check out an Asian Heritage festival they had at one of their parks. I figured I could play with my camera there for a little bit. In preparations for that, I had uploaded all pictures beforehand and cleared out my 2 gigabyte memory card and charged the camera’s battery.

The festival was lots of fun, though I was noting the absence of some countries. I didn’t see much Japan, and there was nothing of the Philippines! But other than that, it was pretty good. I also came to the realization that I need another memory card. I was shy of filling up my memory card not even a fourth of the way through the festival, with the final count topping just over 650 pictures…and a little under a thousand pictures for the weekend. I also do not “machine gun” when I take pictures, but I have realized that this camera has given me the opportunity and ability to take pictures that my previous one wouldn’t let me. Effectively almost tripling the number of pictures I took. I will probably skim through these pictures in a bit and will upload a few on my website. We’ll see.
