Okay, things are looking up in Yemen…
Also in light of what happened with Cape and Gonzo a few years ago, looks like Porter and Arleigh Burke are racking in some points as well.

So, Wayne’s Mom told me she watched on the news earlier this evening that one of the Cole suspects has been freed over something stupid. I was not a happy camper and said I would look onto it later on.
Of course, I have no memory…wasn’t until a brief visit to Michelle’s site that she blogged about it…
The grand story. With vigilante ways being discussed more and more, taking matters into individual hands…this sounds like a great argument for me.
I’m not gonna say anymore…I will not keep myself up all night and go off about this story. You’ve read it, those of you that know me know very well exactly how I feel. I’m gonna stop now…because I am almost literally pounding on the keyboard.
…just before lunch at work, a naked lady wandered into one of our buildings…like she was looking for something. I know nothing more.
Life in Oakcliff…gotta love it.
Hahahaha…as far as the latter part of the title, don’t ask! If you don’t know…well, you don’t know! I don’t remember how my week last week went…fairly whirlwindish it seems though. Nowadays, just look forward to the weekends…not that I haven’t before, but it sure takes on a greater importance now!
So Friday and Saturday was the event…the 20 year anniversary of the Poteet Pirate Band. A LOT of good memories there, and some…memories. The timing was amusing, as it seemed to be the cross-town rivals night. Poteet played against West Mesquite at Hanby Stadium…with Poteet on the visitors side. This was amusing for me…in my four years with the band, I cannot recall ever being on the visitor side of Hanby Stadium. So…where would I park? Was there even a parking lot there?
Of course, there was a parking lot and that’s where we went. I sat up top, mainly so I could get some good shots of the band during halftime. I figured I’d eventually troll around and meet people, but as the bleacher’s grew rather quickly, I decided I would just sit there and if I ran into someone, then I ran into someone.
The first half of the game was unexpected. I ended up running into Christine’s friend, Rachel (no, I have no explanation why I end up hanging with people other than my core friends) and made a fool out of myself. Nearing the end of the second quarter, Jason had come up and we ended up talking, the three of us…with a couple of random people being injected here and there.
Watched the band during halftime, though I was in no position to really check them out as I was firing off my camera (ADD moment: Uploading my pics right now…I cannot believe that I have fired off well over 6,000 pictures already!) and getting as good shots as I could.
That done, I did move around a little bit and some of the time was with Jason and others, and then sometimes it was with other people. Christine also finally did show up and because she was ill-dressed for the “cold” weather I became the victim of identity theft. But it was good seeing a lot of these former Pirate band members. Jason and Litsa left a little early and I went down to meet Mr. Brown, Mr. Davis and Mr. Coulson. Down there, I fired off more shots of the band and whatever seemed amusing. In typical Pirate band fare, I was completely oblivious to the fact that there was a football game going on though I saw that our Pirates lost to the Wranglers, which isn’t anything new for me either.
The following day was the band reception. I once again showed up slightly early and looked around. The new fine arts wing from the main entrance hallway leading all the way to the band hall (that I was never a part of…ha ha!) was decorated with countless pictures. I figured because I was in the band “back-in-the-day” that there would be no candid shots of me…I was wrong, my Dr. Pepper toting self had to look like a fool.
The band hall was filled with more pictures as well and it’s good to see that the band is still excellent. The rows and rows of trophies just kept getting bigger and bigger and were getting close to wrapping around the band hall. After going by and running into a couple of people, we all gathered in the auditorium where various prominent people spoke about the history of the band, all the way up to Mr. Coulson. From there we watched three videos…when the band first made it through in 1990, my senior year’s great performance that had us the Texas 4A State Marching Band Champions in 1997, and finally when the band once again retook the 4A State Champ trophy in 2005.
After that, everyone continued with the picture looking and treats. I looked around a little bit more, though I had pretty much covered all the ground before the auditorium event. To my surprise, I did not see as many people here than I expected there to be…at least as far as those that I knew. Most everyone I saw I had seen the night before and/or have already chatted with earlier. So, with very little much more to do I went ahead and left, continuing on my schedule. I congratulate the band and am proud to be a part of the band’s history as well.
Despite all good intentions to try to go to the State Fair, I pretty much gave up. The traffic looked horrible and didn’t feel like plunging at my wallet at the time. It’ll have to wait till next year. Of course, incidentally, the weather FINALLY took a turn for fall, feeling actually like October on Monday…the day AFTER the fair closed! Go figure!
Chip, Dylan, Christine and I decided to take a little trip. Chip had a little bit of a hunch and we gave it a try. What is it? I have a picture below. Those that know, they know….those that don’t, not a big deal anyways. Christine also made a perfect score at the shooting gallery…just not on the first try like ME, bwahahahahaha!
Hurry up and get over here, Sean!
Also, my MP3 player rocks…love it so far! Thanks for asking, lol!

Alright…I’m gonna throw up now after reading this.
